Employability settings

Embedded teaching and learning materials are available in a number of settings which will be of use in programmes with an employability focus. They provide an important exemplar of how literacy, language and numeracy learning can be integrated into the teaching of employability skills.

Teacher notes provide detailed ideas for use by employability skills teachers as well as specialist literacy, language and numeracy teachers. The materials do not supply a complete programme of learning. Instead, aspects of employability skills work that place a particular demand on literacy, language and numeracy skills have been prioritised.

Materials were developed in consultation with Sector Skills Councils, trades unions, employers, training providers and others, and were subject to extensive expert review. They were developed in 2005-2006.
