Welcome to Adult Learners' Week - from 19th to 25th May 2007. Adult Learners' Week is the UK’s largest festival of learning. Now in its 16th year, Adult Learners' Week is a celebration of the energy and inspiration that adults bring to their learning. It seeks to use the achievements of learners to inspire others to have to go - whether it be learning a new skill, learning for fun, or catching up on learning missed at school.

The Skills for Life Strategy Unit in the DfES works with NIACE (the National Insitute for Adult Continuing Education) to promote Skills for Life learning during Adult Learners' Week and encourage adults to get on a course to improve their literacy, language and numeracy skills. Any adult wanting help with their skills can call free on 0800 66 0800 and talk to a friendly adviser who will help them find out about free courses in their local area.

Adult Learners' Week Awards 2007

The Adult Learners’ Week Awards recognise the commitment, interest and passion that adults bring to their learning. They’re a great way of celebrating the achievements of learners, and raising the profile of learning opportunities in your area. We'd like to hear your stories about the people who – through determination, commitment and dedication – have transformed their lives through learning.
